Buffalo Chicken Dip

I’ve cooked buffalo chicken dip since I was a teenager. It’s the perfect appetizer for any party or gathering because everyone loves it and it’s simple to make with just a few ingredients.

My recipe has the perfect balance of creaminess, cheesiness, and a kick of heat. For the hot sauce, I prefer Texas Pete or Frank’s Red Hot for a milder heat but you can use your favorite. The best part about this dip is that if you’re sensitive to heat, you can use a milder hot sauce, and if you’re the type who has a high spice tolerance, use your favorite flaming sauce!

For the chicken, you can use baked or boiled breasts or tenders, leftover roast chicken, or even store-bought rotisserie chicken to make it easier.

Tip alert: To make this recipe even easier, you can use your standing mixer, like this KitchenAid mixer that I use, to shred the chicken in seconds!

So what are you waiting for? Pour a drink and start cooking!

Do I use ranch or blue cheese dressing for buffalo chicken dip?

This recipe uses ranch dressing. You can use any store-bought ranch dressing or make your own if you have the time. I personally think a thicker ranch dressing (Think Hidden Valley) is best so the dip is thick and creamy.

Some recipes uses blue cheese dressing, and you can swap it in this recipe if that’s what you prefer but I think this recipe has enough cheese on its own and ranch is the best way to go.

Can I freeze buffalo chicken dip?

If you have a craving for buffalo chicken dip and don’t have a party coming up, you can eat what you want and freeze it for up to three months.

What do I serve buffalo chicken dip with?

I like to serve buffalo chicken dip with Fritos or celery sticks but you can also serve it with tortilla chips or carrot sticks to keep it healthy. You can also slice and toast baguette as another option.
