Crispy Baked Chicken Wings

I think chicken wings are the perfect party food to serve friends and family for any occasion. They’re easy to eat, flavorful, and pair well with other party foods. This recipe is actually inspired by ones I ate at my uncle’s place during the holidays years ago.

Traditional chicken wings are fried, but you don’t have to deal with the greasy mess to get the perfect crisp — especially if you follow my recipe. To obtain that crunch level, I use a combination of corn starch and seasonings like cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika. I promise, won’t miss the douses of Buffalo sauce.

This recipe uses two pounds of chicken wings, which serves about four. However, if you’re serving a large crowd, you might want to double the recipe — because they won’t last long after your guests take their first bite.

You can serve them on their own or paired with a dip like ranch or blue cheese dressing. For a complete meal, serve these wings with my lemon parmesan roasted Brussels sprouts. It’s also a great addition to a party appetizer spread with dishes like spinach, artichoke, and roasted garlic dip, guacamole, or Buffalo chicken dip.

Are you ready to get the party started!? Then preheat your oven and let me know what you think! Enjoy!

Should I use cornstarch or baking powder for crispy baked chicken wings?

I use cornstarch so I think you should stick with it! Some recipes call for baking powder instead, but I think it has an odd taste.

What temperature do I bake my crispy chicken wings?

I’ve tested this wing recipe many times, and found that 425 degrees Fahrenheit works best. If you use a lower temperature, the wings will take much longer to achieve a perfect crisp. Remember, every oven temperature varies so keep an eye on them and use an oven thermometer if you have one.
