Jalapeño Chicken Burgers

You won’t want another beef burger for quite some time after you try these jalapeño chicken burgers with avocado cilantro mayo. These sandwiches are full of flavor with diced onions and jalapeños — but they aren’t breaded and fried like your usual chicken sandwich.

To top it off (no pun intended) I’ve concocted an avocado cilantro mayo that also has jalapeño and fresh lime juice. The sauce is so good that you’ll dip your baked sweet potato fries or whatever side you pair with the sandwich until there’s none left in the bowl. So consider doubling the sauce recipe and keeping it in an air-tight container for up to a week to satisfy your cravings.

I pair the chicken burger and avocado cilantro mayonnaise with arugula for fresh and peppery flavor, sliced tomato, and pepper jack cheese to add a bit more spice to the top of each bite. But don’t hesitate to customize with your favorite burger toppings like red onion, pickles, or maybe more jalapeños?

I cook these on my cast iron grill pan, but if you’re lucky enough to have a real grill on the back deck, they make the perfect addition to your next cook out. You can also pan sear them in your favorite pan too. No matter how you cook these burgers, my friends, they’ll leave you and your guests craving more.

It’s that time again so pull out your ingredients and start chopping! You can have these jalapeño chicken burgers on the table in no time! ENJOY!

How do you keep chicken burgers from falling apart?

The egg and bread crumbs work as binders to hold the patties together from the mixing bowl to the pan — then your mouth!

Are jalapeño chicken burgers spicy?

Jalapeños have mild heat and aren’t as spicy like other peppers. These chicken burgers and mayo have more of an essence of the flavor rather than a lot of spice. Like it spicy? Keep the seeds in the jalapeños!

Notes

Tip: Have a little extra avocado cilantro mayo? The lime will prevent it from turning brown so store in an air-tighter container in the fridge and use on other sandwiches or as a dip with chips or veggie sticks.
