Baked Sweet Potato Fries

If you love fries like I do but want a healthier option, you’re going to LOVE these sweet potato fries. First, they’re baked instead of fried so no oil or grease here! Sweet potatoes are also thought to have more vitamins and fiber, so they’ll keep you fuller for longer!

My baked sweet potato fries also have the perfect combination of spices with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper for a little kick of heat! To make them crispy, they also have some corn starch.

Enjoy these sweet potatoes on their own, with ketchup (shout out ketchup lovers!) and they’re also a great dipper for guacamole! You can serve them as an easy snack or as a healthy side with chicken meatballs or your other favorite protein with a vegetable like roasted Brussels sprouts.

Are you hungry yet!? Then it’s time to get cooking! Enjoy!

How do I make my sweet potato fries crispy?

This recipe uses corn starch mixed with oil and spices to give the fries a crispy coating. The high temperature and flipping halfway through gets all sides get crispy.

It’s also important to use parchment paper on your baking sheet and don’t overcrowd the pan! I use two baking sheets for this recipe so there’s an inch or two between the fries. If you have a large baking sheet, that also works!

Should I soak my sweet potatoes before making sweet potato fries?

Nope! Some people soak their potatoes or sweet potatoes before cooking to remove some of the starch. They will come out a bit crispier but it adds an extra step—and wastes water! These will be perfectly crispy on their own. Remember, I like to keep things simple in the kitchen!
